Abu Dhabi Combat Club(ADCC) continues to bring the some of the best grappling competitors in the world to their championships and the 2009 ADCC will have a new competitor, Fedor Emelianenko. Here’s the quote, via ADCombat.com: Fedor Emelianenko, after conquering the World of MMA, wants to show the world he is also the best submission grappler in the World. Fedor wants to make history and expand on the pioneer spirit of what Mark Kerr did in the late 90’s when he was the champion of Pride and became the Weight and Absolute Champion of ADCC and went on to defend his title in the Superfights for two editions. You can’t help but feel that these championships are going to be awesome, and it’ll be nice to see supra high level Sambo practitioner Emelianenko facing off against high level BJJ experts. Also of interest is that 2008 Dream Middleweight Champion Gegard Mousasi will also be at the ADCC championships. Does anyone not want to see a huge matchup between Mousasi and “Jacare” Souza, or current ADCC Middleweight Champion Demian Maia. The ADCC championships will showcase some impressive talent, and will bridge many different types of submission fighting done by the world’s best.
